who is Vince Maniago?

Vince is a curious builder, tinkerer and thinker with 15 years experience creating and managing great internet products. Vince's passion for anything Social, especially Events & Things to Do, has fueled a desire to make Events easier to discover on the Internet for the past decade. He's also a huge fan and enabler of Innovation and can't stay away from Hack Days, SHDH, Mashup Camp and Open APIs. His experience spans web development, ecommerce, local search, social media and business development. Vince has held Product Management positions at E*Trade, Yahoo! Local, Upcoming, Zvents and MTV.

For the last 4 years Vince has helped Millions of Americans take control of their finances as a Product Management Leader at Intuit, focused on Mint.com. Vince is the recipient of the presigous Scott Cook Innovation Award for his work delivering intelligent Financial Advice in Mint.

As a child Vince spent his spare time in his Dad's automotive machine shop disassembling engines, electronics and race cars in order to discover how things worked. At age 8 Vince took an interest in auto-racing and started a 7-year stint racing Quarter Midgets around Northern California. He won numerous races and set track records in that time, all the while developing a love and respect for competition. At age 15 Vince started fiddling with electronics and working part-time as a Macintosh computer repair technician. As a computer tech Vince spent thousands of hours taking computers apart, repairing, soldering and figuring out how they worked. Vince had never used a non-Macintosh computer until forced to in college.

After high school Vince attended the University of California at Santa Barbara to pursue a undergraduate degree in Chemistry, but found a love for business during his sophomore year and quickly changed majors to focus on Business Administration. A summer job as a Systems Analyst at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in Menlo Park, CA allowed Vince to master HTML, Javascript and PERL while discovering the finer points of navigating a golf cart swiftly through a radiation-laden Federal facility. In 1997 as the dot-com boom was sparking, he decided to leave Santa Barbara to work in Silicon Valley and attend San Francisco State University to pursue a CIS degree. Vince discovered more interesting challenges during this time and left school to build his first successful e-commerce company, Niche Taste.
